Milo Spencer

Milo Spencer’s work features colors that are a balance of brightness and comfort. These pieces catch your attention as a familiar friend calling you from across the room with a smile and a beckoning wave. As you’re invited into the atmosphere of the artist’s work, elements of nature bring themselves forward: a butterfly’s wing, clouds tinted pink from a sunset, and blades of grass kinetic in the wind.

Each piece created by Spencer is connected to the body, whether directly representing the human figure or capturing the mindful movement of the artist themself in their more abstracted work. These gestures are captured through gouache, ink, and their favorite, wax pastels. As Spencer’s practice continues to grow in abstraction, they find themselves pushing the narratives they depict. Pulled from the artist’s personal experiences and memories, Spencer’s work asks, just how fantastical can these stories become?
