Lovena Grillot
Lovena is a multidisciplinary artist, a jack of all trades. She uses any and all media to get her point across. Even her drawings are not just drawings; often, multiple drawings are sewn together to emphasize the emotion of the depicted scene. In her body of work, she focuses on portraying a spectrum of emotions, from the difficulty of balancing work and life, the coziness of nostalgia, to the discomfort of more pressing issues. Her work varied, it is emotional, contemporary, and uniquely her.
Permission to Party has allowed Lovena to focus on the form and materiality of her work. Messages of putting on a mask and balance are prevalent; from a personal scale to a global scale. These messages are met with unique materials, found objects, wearables, unique quilting techniques, spackle, and 3D prints. Her work is unpredictable; you never know what she will make next.
