Cydeny Walker
Cydney is a painter whose work explores the complexities of digital spaces and the growing dependence humans have on technology. Her paintings exist in a space between reality and simulation. Her work reflects the contemporary condition of living inan internet-driven world, one in which viewers can mentally transport themselves to different eras and environments. Her paintings balance chaos and structure, often using vibrant, artificial color palettes that immediately capture attention and pull the viewer into these different environments. These colors feel intentional yet disorienting, mirroring the digital atmosphere. Cydney's process begins with creating Photoshop collages, where she combines contrasting imagery and sharp, mechanical edges. This digital foundation informs her acrylic paintings. She often incorporates familiar digital icons and visual symbols. These elements that are pulled from screen-based interactions create an immediate sense of recognition. These references ground the work in shared digital experience. Through the use of hard-edged, machine-like forms alongside more organic elements, she investigates the boundary between human and machine and questions where one ends and the other begins. Her work ultimately reflects a world that is increasingly mediated by technology, offering a visual language that feels both familiar.
